Pottstown-based VideoRay, a growing defense technology company, was recently awarded a five-year, $92.6 million U.S. Navy contract.

Pottstown-based VideoRay has been awarded a five-year, $92.6 million defense contract for the production, sustainment, and development of the defense technology company’s MK20 Defender Remotely Operated Vehicle platform for the US Navy’s Maritime Expeditionary Standoff Response, writes Donna Rovins for The Daily Local News.

The contract provides the Navy’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Underwater Response Vehicle program with access to VideoRay’s Mission Specialist family of underwater robotics systems.

“This production contract with the US Navy marks an exciting new chapter for VideoRay, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of our team to achieve this significant milestone,” said VideoRay CEO Chris Gibson.

The contract will also provide valuable feedback to VideoRay, “which has been instrumental in continuously enhancing our next-generation Expeditionary EOD and MCM systems to meet the fleet’s requirements,” added Gibson.

The MK20 Defender ROV, which is based on VideoRay’s Mission Specialist Defender, is a robust, man-portable, expeditionary ROV with modularity and an open architecture design. It allows the easy integration of third-party sensors and software applications, as well as versatile field-swappable payload options.

The Mission Specialist Defender is built at the company’s Pottstown location and serviced from its Pottstown and San Diego, California, offices.
