Sneha Shah of SEI Investments in Oaks Leading Effort to Invest in Tech Startups

Sneha Shah of SEI Investments Co. in Oaks.

SEI Investments Co.’s Sneha Shah is getting involved in the Philadelphia tech scene and hopes to invest in startups, writes Ryan Mulligan for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Shah has previously taken on managing director roles with the London Stock Exchange Group and Thomson Reuters.

She is in her first year as executive vice president and head of new business ventures for SEI Investments.

Shah is creating a team at the Oaks-based financial technology firm that will invest in and grow startups that will one day be an SEI asset.

The fintech firm has some $1.5 trillion in assets under management and 5,000 employees globally.

Shah is working on opportunities to commercialize ideas internally and externally.

She’s developing a venture studio, a strategic investor that will invest in booming startups it can scale through SEI’s existing reach.

Some innovation, like AI development, is happening faster outside SEI.

“But a lot of these startups don’t have the distribution and scale that SEI has and so our entire ventures thesis is very strategic,” she said.

“We’ve got a long history in Philadelphia of collaboration between enterprise and startups and so a lot of muscle has been built. . .” Shah said.
