King of Prussia-based Radial agrees to sell its customer care division, which could result in the potential layoff of 645 workers.

King of Prussia-based Radial is in a deal to sell its customer care division, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The e-commerce company warned in a filing with the state’s labor department that 645 employees could be laid off as part of the deal but noted that “it is anticipated that most of those employees will become employed by the buyer.”

According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing, all workers are remote and just five are Pennsylvania residents. The employees will officially end their current employment with Radial on June 28.

“Radial will look to provide guidance and resources to support smooth transitions whether that be internal or external for employees,” said a Redial spokesperson.

Radial is the former eBay Enterprise fulfillment operator. The company was acquired by the Belgian postal service bpost for $820 million in 2017.

Radial was originally formed a year earlier by private equity firm Sterling Partners which merged eBay’s e-commerce fulfillment unit with e-commerce company Innotrac

The company further traces its roots to GSI Commerce, founded by Bryn Mawr billionaire Michael Rubin and then sold to eBay in 2011 for $2.4 billion.
