Longwood Garden’s Reimagined Project Employs Only the Best, And It Starts with Soil
Laurel Valley Soils, a quality compost and soil business, will produce the plant soil medium for Longwood Gardens’ upcoming Reimagined project, writes staff for Laurel Valley Soils.
The company was formed in 1999, and since then, has been committed to their green environmental impact, impressive customer support, and high-quality production of compost and soil for a variety of projects.
The soil will be deposited into Longwood Gardens’ new conservatory. Last year, the business partnered with Bancroft Construction and BR Kreider & Son, Inc. to create their Horticultural Compost; a component of the amended soil produced for the new allée, which connects Longwood Garden’s original conservatory with their new one.
In the coming weeks, Laurel Valley will begin to prepare blending the new conservatory’s interior soil. This will take place at their facility in Landenburg. It has been a lengthy process, from sampling and testing the mix components, to creating test blends of the complete mix. This must be done to ensure conformance with the specifications.
The custom blend will include various ratios of specialty sand, pink bark, peat moss, and reclaimed Longwood Gardens topsoil.
Longwood Reimagined is set to open on Nov. 22, 2024.
