Westtown School’s girls’ basketball team is gaining another all-star player, writes Owen McCue for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Kennedy Henry, from Hockessin, Del., has recently announced that she will be joining the Westtown team for her senior year, adding to the already-strong team. The girls’ team won their fourth straight Friends Schools League title and third consecutive PAISAA championship this past season.

Henry, a 6-foot guard and wing, won three Mid-Atlantic Prep League titles, has earned three all-league honors, and surpassed the 1,000-point mark at her previous school.

“I feel like coming to Westtown for basketball purposes, I’m going to get extremely better. Playing with good competition against my own teammates during preseason is going to make me extremely better.” Henry said.

Even before high school, she received interest from several Division I programs. While she had verbally committed to play at Virginia Tech in June 2022, she reopened her recruitment after the former Virginia Tech coach left in March.

“I wanted the new coach to recruit me and get to know me on a different level,” she said. “But I feel like in order to do that, I needed to reopen my recruitment and get to know other coaches as well to further my basketball career and see what’s best for me.”
