Every spring, the Devon Horse Show comes to town, featuring talented equestrians, events, delicious food and beverages, and carnival fun.

The oldest and largest multi-breed horse show is returning to Devon for days of family fun, delicious food, and tradition, writes Laura Swartz for Philadelphia Magazine.

The horse show will run until June 2 and is at the Devon Horse Show grounds in Chester County. The tradition was started in May 1896 and, in 1919, the County Fair portion of the event was added. Every spring, competitors gather to participate in the nationally recognized equestrian event and locals come to enjoy the show, shop, and eat.

The Devon Horse Show showcases a variety of disciplines, such as jumpers, hackney, eventing, and more. The Sapphire Grand Prix will take place on May 30, with riders competing for the Devon Blue Ribbon and $250,000.

There’s delicious food to be enjoyed at the Devon Horse Show, such as lemon sticks, funnel cake, Devon fries, and the Devon Tea Cart, which has been a part of the show for over 100 years.

The County Fair has all kinds of rides for some family fun, such as a carousel, Ferris wheel, and different carnival games.

A one-day ticket costs $20 ($10 for children under 5 and seniors) or an 11-day pass can be purchased for $100. Special events during the fair, such as the Grand Prix on May 30, require an additional ticket. Tickets are available online or day of.
