It was the last Commencement for the last graduating class of Cabrini University in Radnor, and Kylie Kelce, a 2017 Cabrini graduate, delivered the commencement address.
The wife of retired Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce, Kylie was invited to address the Class of 2024 May 19 for the poignant occasion at her alma mater, writes Charlotte Phillipp for People.
Cabrini is closing after 67 years of operation, sold to Villanova University.
Kylie, who graduated Cabrini with a bachelor’s degree in communications, was self-deprecating, remarking at one point the university “couldn’t even get a top five Kelce” as their commencement speaker.
Kylie Kelce played field hockey at Cabrini and she was named a member of the All-CSAC First Team and ECAC South All-Stars First Team in her senior year in 2016.
At one point, Kylie said she was going to “try not to cry” as she addressed Cabrini’s closure.
“This was home and this was where you found your extended family,” she said of the college. “In the next few months, as the sign at the front entrance no longer reads Cabrini, and a new school moves in, know that your home still exists.”
