Rohan Kapoor and Jack Reichert, co-founders of Go Green Filter in Unionville, made the 2024 class of Inno Under 25 honorees, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal

Inno Under 25 recognizes individuals 25 years old and younger making a positive impact on the region through innovation.

Kapoor and Reichert, both 18 years old, are Unionville High School seniors whose goal is to conquer one of the most pressing issues today: automobile pollution. Nearly 17 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions are caused by cars and small trucks.

The company founded by the two teenagers is hoping to provide an affordable solution to the problem. The filter they created clips onto exhaust pipes to lower the amount of carbon emissions released by that gas-powered vehicle. The filter uses water, algae, and a light source to create an environment ripe for photosynthesis, which converts carbon dioxide into oxygen.

Go Green Filter said its product reduces carbon dioxide emissions by around 74 percent. It is also supposed to represent a more affordable alternative to electric vehicles.

The concept has won several awards, including T-Mobile’s Changemaker Challenge Grand Prize.
