Two Chester County Executives Among Most Admired CEOs in Philadelphia Area

Two Chester County executives have found their way onto the list of 2023 most admired CEOs in the Philadelphia area, writes Lisa Dukart for the Philadelphia Business Journal

Kimberly Burkert, CEO of Bala Consulting Engineers, has spent nearly 23 years at the Wayne-based engineering firm. In that time, she has played a crucial role in growing the company from a one-office operation into five offices, quadrupling its revenue to $40 million, and acquiring five businesses. 

She founded the employee resource group Women of Bala & Allies and leads the company’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative. Her business philosophy is simple:

“To create an environment where our employees can thrive while providing superior service and quality results for our clients.” 

David Lasus is the CEO of Heart + Paw. His background in the hospitality and real estate industries was of great benefit to growing the veterinary care practice in Berwyn

In the last 20 years, he worked at Qdoba, Pennmark Management, and Insomnia Cookies. Before becoming Heart + Paw CEO, he was named the company’s president. He helped grow Heart + Paw from six locations within Greater Philadelphia to 28 locations in 10 states.
