For over two decades, YMP has dedicated itself to shaping the futures of young individuals through comprehensive mentorship programs.

The Youth Mentoring Partnership (YMP), a beacon of guidance and support, stands at the forefront of change in Coatesville and Philadelphia’s underserved communities. For over two decades, YMP has dedicated itself to shaping the futures of young individuals through comprehensive mentorship programs, particularly children in grades 6-12 who are navigating life in challenging environments.

With a team of 17 full-time, professionally trained mentors, YMP reaches hundreds of students within the Coatesville Area School District, employing an impactful curriculum centered around Goals, Grit, and Gratitude. This innovative approach, delivered through engaging sport and fitness activities, is designed to instill resilience, ambition, and appreciation in the hearts of young learners.

The need for such a program is underscored by a troubling statistic: one in three children in these communities grow up without a single constant positive adult figure in their lives. This is linked to the broader societal issues of poverty and violent crime that grip the Greater Philadelphia area. YMP’s efforts to fill this void have led to significant growth in their operations, enabling them to serve 2,000 children from 2021-22.

The organization’s work does not go unnoticed, with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency recognizing the value of YMP’s contributions by investing in its programming. This partnership highlights the recognition of mentorship as a key strategy in the fight against crime and poverty, as well as nurturing young minds in a safer, more prosperous community.

The Youth Mentoring Partnership’s story is one of hope, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the next generation.
