Two West Chester University graduates, Julie Frymyer and Courtland Bragg, were present at the Super Bowl this past weekend each playing significant roles in their careers, writes Justin Heinze for Patch.

While the Super Bowl is known for housing the two teams who showed the most athletic prowess and strength for the season, others have roles that are just as important. For example, 2005 graduate Frymyer was the assistant athletic trainer for the Kansas City Chiefs, making it her fourth Super Bowl attendance.

She keeps the team’s equipment in check and pays close attention to keeping the playing athletes to keep them on their A-game. She was noted for her work in patching Patrick Mahomes‘ ankle injury last year.

“My job is to help [players like Mahomes] be ready to go out there able to perform — not only for himself, but for his teammates,” said Frymyer in a recent interview with People magazine.

Meanwhile, this 2014 graduate is part of the artistic side of the field. Bragg works with NFL Films and ESPN’s 30 for 30 program. He directed the “I’m going to Disneyland” commercial that aired during the game. He is also an Emmy Award winner as a producer and field director.

“Nearly 10 years ago, I was a substitute teacher with dreams of being a Film Director. During my lunch breaks I’d apply to hundreds of TV/production jobs only to be denied time and time again,” said Bragg.
