After two winter storms hit the region last week, Delaware Valley ski resorts are celebrating the end of the snow lull and opening more trails for skiers to enjoy.

After two winter storms hit the region recently, Delaware Valley ski resorts are celebrating the end of the two-year-long snow lull and opening more trails for skiers, snowboarders, and snow-tubers to enjoy, writes David Matthau for the WHYY.

“Conditions, especially this week have just been awesome, so in addition to the about five inches of snow that Mother Nature has brought this week we’ve also been able to make snow every day, so it’s almost a full week of snowmaking, which we haven’t seen yet this year,” said Ashley Seier, director of Marketing at Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Palmerton.

Thanks to the snowfall, Blue Mountain opened new trails last week and currently has 29 out of 40 trails open.

Director of Marketing at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie Gary Kline also said that conditions on the slope are the best they have been so far this season and for the last several years.

“You’ve got to go back two years before we had any kind of measurable snow like we’ve had these last two storms,” he said.
