This Holiday Season, Find Unique Gifts and Support Small Businesses By Shopping Local

By

Shopping local during the holiday season is the perfect way to support your community while grabbing perfect presents for your loved ones, write Nydia Han and Heather Grubola for 6ABC.

There are numerous benefits to buying at small and local shops. You can find unique items, usually handmade, the gifts are more personal, and the money you spend goes directly back into the local economy.

In addition, many small businesses are feeling the lasting effects of the pandemic and rising inflation and could use a holiday season boost.

A Kennett Square retail space is home to several small businesses that should be among your shopping stops.

“We are a specialty cut flower farm,” said Mara Tyler, owner of The Farm at Oxford which offers plants, flowers, wreaths, and much more.

Meanwhile at nearby Short, Sweet, Saucy, “What we pride ourselves on is quality,” said owner Cecilia Welch. The shop started with mommy and me aprons and has since expanded into a full line of home goods.

Another great spot is Briana Brant’s boutique, Arden and James.

“I’m an industrial designer and I specialize in custom handbags,” said Brant.
