Princess Diana Wore a Philadelphia Eagles Varsity Jacket in the 1990s, and Now a Version is Being Sold Online
During the 1990s, Princess Diana wore a Philadelphia Eagles varsity jacket that the team had sent her, and now a version of that jacket is being sold online, writes Emily Burack for Town & County.
“Our latest limited-edition release pays homage to an iconic era in Eagles and pop-culture history, capturing the essence of a royal moment in time,” writes Mitchell & Ness, the brand selling the jacket.
It represents a cherished piece of sports and fashion history.
In an Instagram post, Kylie Kelce, the wife of Eagles center Jason Kelce, models the jacket.
The iconic jacket was designed with a vintage fit and is meant to be oversized. As a result, Mitchell & Ness is recommending customers order a size smaller than they normally would if they’re hoping for a true-to-size fit. Despite it happening over three decades ago, Princess Diana wearing the jacket recently resurfaced in the news.
Ken Wharfe, Princess Diana’s former bodyguard, had some remarks about her mindset as it pertained to her style.
“Diana loved to be different, this was her style. It sort of showed the public and her children that she was a normal mother in a style that people liked,” said Wharfe.
