Kennett Library is excited to bring recurring exhibitions in the art gallery in the new building. The opening reception of the Howard Pyle Studio Group exhibit will take place in the Kennett Library on Nov. 30 from 5-7 PM.

Light refreshments will be served. The exhibit can be viewed from Nov. 30 through Dec. 30.

Chris Manna, Executive Director of Kennett Library, said, “Libraries have a long history of providing a platform of expression through the written word.  Our new library now offers the platform of the visual kind. Hosting the Howard Pyle group as one of our debut exhibits is a testament to the beauty of visual expression on our art gallery wall.”

The Howard Pyle Studio Group is a nonprofit group of women artists who own and maintain the historic Howard Pyle Studios located at 1305 N. Franklin St. in Wilmington, Delaware. The group has been in existence for over 80 years and its mission is to educate, inform, and carry on the legacy of celebrated American illustrator and artist, Howard Pyle. The studio properties have been listed on the National Registry of Historic Places since 1978.

The Studio Group welcomes the public for free on the first Fridays of the month from September to June as a part of “Art Loop Wilmington.” For more information on the group of artists, you can visit the website.

The art gallery in the library was made possible by a generous gift from the Cabot-Kjellerup Foundation. A portion of all art sales will benefit the Kennett Library and its arts and culture programming.
