Instead of making another trip to one of the major grocers, make a pilgrimage to some of the best shopping destinations in the region this year for your Chester County Thanksgiving, writes Jenn Ladd for The Philadelphia Inquirer

There is a plethora of small-scale producers in the county. If you are looking for a cage-free bird, head to Loag’s Corner Turkey Farm in Elverson. A heritage-breed variety is available at Canter Hill Farm in Malvern

Meanwhile, Worrel’s Butcher Shop in Malvern offers both great meat and store-made stuffing, gravy, and scalloped potatoes.

At Pottstown’s Red Dog Market, you can preorder a thoughtfully curated Thanksgiving veggie box. Another good option is the daily farm stand at Baily’s Dairy in West Chester for great local produce, eggs, and much more.

There are plenty of mushrooms to choose from in Kennett Square at the Mushroom Cap or the Woodlands at Phillips Mushroom Farms

Strawberry Bakery in Malvern and Yori’s Church Street Bakery in West Chester will cover your bread and dessert needs, while Va La Vineyards and Wayvine are the places to go for great wine.
