West Chester Alumna Carol Eggert Honored with Veterans in Business Lifetime Service Award
Carol Eggert, a West Chester University graduate, has been recognized with the 2023 Veterans in Business Lifetime Service Award, writes Lisa Dukart for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Chester County resident is an Army veteran who served 28 years of commissioned time, 12 of which were enlisted. In 2015, after retiring from service, she was tapped by Comcast to help the telecommunications giant hire a significant number of U.S. Armed Forces veterans and their spouses over several years.
Eggert joined the company in a newly created role of senior vice president of military and veteran affairs. The goal was to help Comcast better understand military culture and determine how to best support those who have served.
Under her leadership, Comcast managed to rapidly outstrip its target and hire over 10,000 veterans and their spouses between 2015 and 2017. The company then expanded its target to include hiring an additional 11,000 by 2021.
“Carol made an inedible mark on the military community and laid the foundation for our company to continue empowering thousands of military-connected employees and serving many more military customers and community partners,” said Bill Strahan, Comcast’s executive vice president of human resources.
