A Longwood Christmas is in full swing until January.

A Longwood Christmas at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square is in full swing until Jan. 7. This year’s theme will take you back to your childhood with retro decorations, vintage ornaments, and over half a million lights that will spark a twinkle in your eye, writes Jessica Horstmann for the Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Join the thousands of visitors who make the trip each winter to see Longwood’s amazing spectacle of holiday cheer. The enchantment starts as you walk through the doors into the night to see how lit up Flower Garden Drive becomes under a canopy of star-like decor. As you continue your journey, glowing luminaries are laid out along pathways and in the gardens. Don’t forget to look up into the trees to see what shimmers in the branches above.

The Main Fountain Garden has a 150-foot light tunnel that changes colors from blues and purples to green and yellows as you walk. Additionally, there are many photography opportunities in the treehouses and the 1969 red ‘Longwood Farms’ truck that sits outside the Peirce-du Pont House.

In the Conservatory, you’ll find sparkling street lamps and tinsel. The 24-foot grand fir tree that is decked out in red and green boasts of holidays of yesteryear with beaded garlands, classic ornaments that are reminiscent of the 1940s and 50s, and ribbons.

And of course, it wouldn’t be A Longwood Christmas without the joyous displays of plants, bushes, and trees that line the walls. See the carefully designed floor plan of poinsettias, begonias, paperwhites, and more when you buy your ticket.

Longwood Gardens is perfect for family outings, trips with friends, and date nights so don’t miss Longwood’s talented horticulturists.
