Willistown’s M. Night Shyamalan Likes to Stay Close to Home When Making Movies
Willistown Township resident M. Night Shyamalan seemingly likes to stay close to home when filming his movies, write The Preston & Steve Show and Colin Newby for WMMR.
He filmed three partially in Chester County and a total of twelve films in the Philadelphia region.
Shyamalan emigrated from India to the United States at a young age. He grew up in the Lower Merion area and attended local schools.

From there, he filmed the majority of his movies in the region. For example, he filmed key scenes for the 2004 hit The Village in Chadds Ford.
Many of the scenes from his 2008 movie The Happening were filmed in easily recognizable county spots, such as G-Lodge Diner and Phoenixville and Kennett Square locations.
His most recent movie filmed in Chester County is The Visit from 2015. The house that is at the center of the movie is in Chester Springs.
