Doylestown native Pink has been a hit-maker since the early aughts, but the road to pop stardom was one of many trials and tribulations.

In an interview with 60 Minutes, the Grammy-winning singer opened up about her near-fatal overdose at a party before signing her first record deal, according to 69 News.

Pink recalls a rough childhood that led to her drug-use.

“I grew up in a house where every day my parents were screaming at each other,” she recounts.

She eventually got kicked out of her home and dropped out of high school. “I was off the rails,” she said.

The incident was a defining moment that kept the now 44-year-old singer, songwriter, and actress away from hard drugs.

A few weeks following the near-fatal experience, Pink signed a deal with an all-girl R&B group, Basic Instinct, which propelled her solo career into music royalty.
