While no longer delivering in small glass bottles, Daryl Mast delivers gallons of milk to residents around Chester County.

While many consider milkmen a relic of the past, some families in Chester County are getting their milk delivered by a real milkman to this day, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.

Daryl Mast is the owner of Doorstep Dairy in Eastern Lancaster County. He brings milk right to his customers’ doorstep in several counties across the region. He does this to fill a niche market so that his customers can enjoy their weekends without going shopping.

“Nobody has time to go to a farmer’s market on a Saturday,” he said. “People can still feel good about supporting the local economy without having to sacrifice a Saturday to do it.”

For Chester County resident Carla Mudry, getting milk delivered by a milkman is a throwback to the past.

“You see, my husband and I had grown up with milkmen delivering milk for parts of our childhood on the Main Line,” she said.

And there are additional benefits to ordering from Doorstep Dairy.

“Doorstep Dairy is not just dairy,” she said. “They offer terrific service, and their products are always fresh and perfect and it’s fun to have a milkman.”
