Local Author, Artist Collaborate for New Book That Focuses on Battle of Brandywine
A new book titled Emotional Brandywine looks at the Battle of Brandywine that took place across the fields of Chadds Ford through paintings and essays, writes Steven Hoffman for the Chester County Press.
Chester County author Bruce E. Mowday captures the history of the engagement between American troops under the command of General George Washington and the British army and the emotion fashioned in 22 paintings created by artist Karl J. Kuerner.
“The area covered by the battle, from the village of Kennett Square, across the fields of Chadds Ford and on to the town of Chester, is special today and in history,” said Mowday. “Karl creates special, thoughtful paintings. Karl’s paintings are impressive in Emotional Brandywine.”
The book is set to be released on Oct. 1 by Regent Press.
Kuerner and Mowday previously collaborated on the highly successful Emotional Gettysburg.
“Readers told us after reading Emotional Gettysburg, they never will view Gettysburg the same,” said Kuerner.
The artist grew up on the land where the Battle of Brandywine took place and was mentored by Andrew Wyeth, whom he watched paint since he was a kid.
