Malvern-based theatre company People’s Light has released the first half of the 2023/2024 season with four productions including a world premiere, two regional premieres, and a re-imagined Dickens holiday classic. Audiences can purchase subscription passes and single tickets for Series 1 here. The Series 2 productions will be announced in January 2024. Philadelphia theatre fans can look forward to a gripping series of captivating productions from nationally-renowned playwrights at People’s Light.

Series 1 begins with the world premiere presentation of Bonez, written and directed by People’s Light Associate Artistic Director Steve H. Broadnax III. The play is a social horror story that investigates masculinity, intimacy, and childhood demons. For families looking to celebrate the winter holiday season, audiences can look forward to the People’s Light signature adaptation of A Christmas Carol, featuring a stellar ensemble led by Ian Merril Peakes as Scrooge with original music and traditional English carols performed with a live, five-piece band.

In 2024, People’s Light presents the regional premiere of SMALL, an autobiographical story written and performed by screen and stage actor Robert Montano about a boy from Long Island who finds purpose as a racehorse jockey.

Series 1 concludes with the regional premiere of the ripple, the wave that carried me home by Christina Anderson, which earned the 2023 Harold and Mimi Steinberg-American Theatre Critics Association’s New Play Award. The critically-acclaimed play is a moving story of a Black woman reckoning with her family’s legacy of political activism.

Before a show, attendees can also enjoy scratch cooking and theatrical sensibilities in the theatre’s onsite restaurant, The Fern & Fable. Quality, artistry, and unique experiences are top of mind at the restaurant. Located steps away from the Leonard C. Haas Stage, The Fern & Fable occupies three rooms of a 1700s farmhouse, complete with two working fireplaces and historic quirks.

During warmer months, guests dine al fresco among the lush gardens on the People’s Light campus. Reservations can be made through OpenTable here. Learn more by visiting the website. Actors, prices, productions, performance dates, and times are subject to change.
