Chester County Food Bank has received a $20,000 grant from ACME Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors Program. The grant was provided as part of the company’s O Organics “Fight Hunger, Serve Hope” cause program to combat hunger during the summer months when households with school-aged children face higher rates of food insecurity. According to Feeding America, during the summer months, as many as 22 million children lose access to the free or reduced meal programs they rely on during the school year.

For every customer purchase of the company’s private label O Organics product, the brand donated one meal to a child in need. The grant awarded to Chester County Food Bank will enable the donation of 80,000 meals for local children through programs that provide nutritious morning meals to children ensuring they start their day off right, even through the summer when school is not in session. CCFB’s Summer Grocery Boxes and Sunshine Ready-To-Eat Meals ensure that these children and their families have sustenance and relief from food insecurity when school resources are unavailable for at-risk youth this summer.

“We’re excited to partner with ACME to help our community’s children start their days with a nutritious breakfast so they can succeed this summer,” said Andrea Youndt, CEO of the Chester County Food Bank. “Together with ACME, we’ll continue to tackle the ongoing food insecurity issues in our community.”

The Chester County Food Bank is the central hunger relief organization in Chester County serving more than 160 partner organizations through their community agency network. Nationwide, O Organics donated $7 million and the equivalent of 28 million meals through the “Fight Hunger, Serve Hope” cause program.

Nourishing Neighbors is a charitable program of ACME Foundation. The program aims to eradicate hunger in America by keeping food banks stocked and supporting meal distribution programs at schools.

In 2022, along with the Albertsons Companies Foundation, the company contributed more than over $200 million in food and financial support, including over $40 million through our Nourishing Neighbors Program to ensure those living in our communities and those impacted by disasters have enough to eat.
