The Philadelphia region has a strong indie bookstore scene, with one local shop being a must-visit for every bibliophile near and far, writes Visit Philadelphia. 

Baldwin’s Book Barn in West Chester was first established in Delaware in 1934. Since World War II, it has been offering used, rare, and fine books as well as manuscripts, maps, paintings, prints, and much more at its current West Chester location. 

The bookstore is set in a 200-year-old stone barn that holds over 300,000 titles that take up every corner and hideaway of its gorgeous setting. There are also plenty of charming reading nooks. 

Architectural Digest named Baldwin’s Book Barn one of the World’s Most Beloved Independent Bookstores in 2021.
