Midfielder Rowan Lapi, who played club soccer with Penn Fusion SA in West Chester, joined the Penn State women’s soccer program last month.

The Northwestern transfer was welcomed to Nittany Lions by Penn State women’s soccer head coach Erica Dambach.

“Rowan Lapi has proven to be one of the top midfielders in the Big Ten Conference,” said Dambach. “We are incredibly fortunate that she has chosen to join us after a spectacular career at Northwestern. She is a physical specimen, as well as an incredible talent on and off the ball.”

Over the last four seasons, Lapi was a versatile two-way player for the Wildcats. Now she is returning to her home state in hopes of adding more accomplishments to her already impressive career.

Last year, she was recognized with Second Team All-Big Ten Recognition and received Third Team All-North Region honors.

“I chose Penn State to continue my soccer career because, first and foremost, it feels like home,” said Lapi. “It’s a special feeling growing up in Pennsylvania and now having the opportunity to come back and play for the university whose soccer and football games I’ve attended since I was two years old.”
