Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center is collaborating Taylor’s Music Store and Studios for a Singer-Songwriter Contest celebrating the unique talent of solo musical artists in and around West Chester.

In Taylor-Made at Uptown! contestants will compete for the opportunity to perform in a semi-finalist round in Uptown’s Cabaret, and in a finalist round on Uptown’s Mainstage.

The Grand Prize Winner will receive a $1000 gift certificate to Taylor’s Music Store and Studios, studio time at TribeSound Productions of West Chester, an opportunity to open for a future Uptown show, and more. Entries are due by midnight June 16, 2023.

Taylor’s is family-owned and operated, and has been in business in West Chester for over 90 years. It offers musical instrument sales, school rentals, repairs, and lessons. Run by Len and Julia Doyle, both accomplished musical artists, Taylor’s has become a beloved West Chester business.

“Back before we opened the doors of Uptown,” said Tom McEvoy, President of Uptown’s Board of Directors, “we experimented with a contest that was a big success. We wanted to bring it back for the summer to shine the spotlight on a local business and celebrate the amazingly talented local singer-songwriter community.” He added, “All are welcome, and we wish everyone good luck!”
