“If everyone has lemonade stands, I think we can do it.” These wise and hopeful words are that of Alex Scott, the young girl who passed away in 2004 after battling childhood cancer. With this statement in mind, S&T Bank team members recently partnered with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) to raise needed funding for childhood cancer research.

ALSF is a non-profit organization with a mission of changing the lives of children with cancer by funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer. This annual fundraiser started with eight-year-old Alex’s first lemonade stand when she set a goal of raising one-million dollars for her doctors to help kids like her fight cancer.

With ALSF headquartered in the Philadelphia region, S&T Bank branches in Central and Southeastern PA (as well as a couple of Western PA locations), participated in Lemonade Days June 3 through June 11. The goal was to raise $25,000 for S&T’s inaugural ALSF fundraising week. In total, the bank along with generous customers and members of the public exceeded that goal, tallying over $30,000 in just the one-week span.

S&T Director of Branch Banking, Jodi Presloid, is extremely proud of the efforts of bank team members. Presloid visited multiple lemonade stands and said, “It was amazing to see the energy and collaboration of our colleagues and their family members! I was inspired by their creativity and desire to go above and beyond and continue making people our purpose at S&T Bank.”

S&T plans to expand this fundraiser to more Bank locations across their footprint next year and S&T Chief Executive Officer, Chris McComish, shared his thoughts around the effort, “It’s uplifting to see our teams proudly participating in this nationwide event and this is a tangible example of our team members building a better future, together.”
