A charming one-time schoolhouse in Honey Brook priced at $398,000 is already pending sale, after spending just a few days on the market, writes Tiffani Sherman for the Beaumont Enterprise

“It’s an incredible property,” said Stewart Gross, who is co-listing with Holly Gross, both with BHHS Fox & Roach West Chester. “Part of it is the unique window structure on the tower and the main staircase going upstairs.”

The building was constructed in 1887 by the Potts family to serve as the Franklin Public School. In the beginning, it was a school for eight different grades. It later became a church and was finally converted into a private residence in 1970.

“It really jumps out at you, and it’s really dramatic,” said Gross. “That was my first thought [when I first saw it.] It is a dramatic and a romantic-looking house and is very charming.”

However the home still has lingering reminders of its past, such as the student-height coat hooks on certain walls, the blackboards, and the teacher platforms.

The ceilings are also high throughout the home and there is a spiral staircase that leads to the tower area.
