During a recent chapel service, Church Farm School recognized an adult and a student scholar who have both served as ambassadors for the school in a variety of ways.

Julia DeMoss received The J. Tyler Griffin Award — named for longtime board member and friend of CFS — in honor of her service and ambassadorship. DeMoss, a retired human resources executive, has been involved with CFS for years. A stalwart financial supporter of the school — particularly its special events, annual fund, and capital campaigns — she has:

  • brought attention to CFS through her affiliations with Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr and Philadelphia-based Episcopal Community Services
  • served on CFS’s Leadership Council
  • served as a volunteer coordinator to greater engage the outside community with the work going on at CFS

Recent graduate Amado Rosendo, who proved in his four years at the school that sharing the CFS experience with others is his strong suit, received The James Tate Class of 1952 Award.

Tate, whom the award is named after, called Rosendo “Mr. Opportunity” and praised him for his leadership and willingness to help others for nothing in return.

“You take advantage of as many opportunities as Church Farm School presents,” Tate told Rosendo, a Newark, N.J., native who will attend Amherst College. “And while the school offers many, you are able to successfully handle a wide variety of them with confidence and determination.”

Rosendo excelled in advanced placement courses, served as an Ambassador for both Development and Admissions, restarted the Griffin Review as its Editor-in-Chief, represented the school as a conversational guest at a development luncheon, and was a student leader as a prefect and involved in athletics.
