Korean Fried Chicken Restaurant and Brewery Flocking to Phoenixville
A new Korean fried chicken restaurant and brewery is making its debut in Phoenixville, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Soko Bag is run by spouses Alice Chang and Shea Roggio, who previously introduced scrumptious chicken dishes as a pop-up in Manayunk’s Pizza Jawn.
Roggio, who used to live in South Korea, wants to make the experience authentic for its patrons. The new establishment’s sports theme is reminiscent of chicken-and-beer joints in South Korea.
Menu favorites include the “KFC jawn” sandwich topped with kimchi aioli and ghost pepper cheese, bulgogi pizza, cheese-powdered “snow chicken,” and Jeju fries. All of the fried chicken is boneless and sprinkled with bamboo salt.
The dishes incorporate unique sauces, the most popular is the traditional Korean sauce tteokbokki for dunking purposes.
The joint also serves a selection of beer and also brews its own blueberry cider.
Soko Bag is aiming to open by this September.
