After spending three decades working at GIANT in Thorndale in customer service, “Miss Helen” Hoffman bids farewell to customers and her colleagues, reports Matt DeLucia for NBC10 Philadelphia. 

“She embodies love and family,” said Mike Smith, manager of Thorndale Giant. 

He has known Hoffman long before he became a manager, though. 

“She has watched me grow up,” he said. 

For Hoffman, the last day brought out a lot of emotions and brought back a lot of memories. 

A few years ago, she started experiencing some cognitive issues. She originally took some time off, but now she decided it was time to retire. 

“I just liked being with the people and trying to get them what they wanted,” she said. “It’s nice because you know their kids and their kids’ kids.”
