Conservationists are confident in the future of the 218-acre property belonging to the Rockefeller dynasty in Willistown, writes Holly Herman for The Patch.

The property, also known as Kirkwood Farm was purchased by Willistown resident and iconic filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan.

According to real estate agents, there was an agreement to keep the land preserved.

“We are really excited about the prospect of this land not going to a developer,” said Kate Etherington, president of the Willistown Conservation Trust. “It’s a gem. We are thrilled with the outcome.”

The farm dates to the 1700’s and includes five farmhouses and two barns.

The next step would be for Shyamalan to get a conservation easement to protect the property from development.

The property would be protected by a trust that preserves farms and estates in the area.
