An online blog ranks Margaret Kuo’s in Wayne as one of the top five best Chinese eateries in Pennsylvania. The acclaimed restaurant serves authentic Mandarin and Japanese dishes, writes Haylie Carter for East Coast Traveler.

Entering this Wayne restaurant will bring diners back to the Han Dynasty. On the outside, dragon reliefs commissioned by a renowned sculptor greet passersby. Upon entering the eatery, guests will find themselves in The Dragon’s Lair, where a relief of Emperor Tai-Tsung transforms the establishment into Tang Dynasty-era China.

The second floor, also known as the Akari Room, is dedicated to Japan. Margaret Kuo commissioned an architect from Tokyo to design a modern interpretation of Japanese culture. Guests can also reserve private dining rooms for parties of 15-30, according to the website.

Patrons can select a meal from the Japanese or Chinese menu. For drinks, the restaurant has an array of Coravin fine wine specials, an award-winning wine list, and a sake menu.

Founder Margaret Kuo is a Delaware Valley business icon. She’s a James Beard Foundation Featured Chef and heads her own restaurant group, The Kuo Group. She’s credited for bringing regional Chinese cuisine to the region.
