When considering area business leaders for its annual Power 101 list, Philadelphia Business Journal Editor in Chief Ryan Sharrow looks for honorees with strength, control, impact, and a special ability to influence change. Tim Abell, one of the notables on the 2023 roster, certainly exhibits those qualities as CEO of Firstrust Bank.

Sharrow explains that the annual compilation is not a ranking; it is merely meant to highlight the many professionals who are not only guiding their respective industries but reshaping them for the future.

Tim Abell, Firstrust CEO, certainly checks that latter box.

He represents the bank’s first leader who is not a member of the Green family, the three-generation clan foundational to the Philadelphia financial institution.

Abell’s noted achievements include:

  • Expanding Firstrust’s small business, commercial, and real-estate lending lines of business
  • Overseeing the investment in digital technologies
  • Expanding into the Maryland market
  • Growing subsidiaries

Among area business leaders with a consistent focus on what’s coming tomorrow, Abell’s inclusion in the 2023 list is apt: the task of leading the Conshohocken-headquartered bank into its next phase of success is now wholly in his hands.

More on Tim Abell and the remainder of the 2023 Power List notables is at the Philadelphia Business Journal.
