Since 1952, The Arc of Chester County has participated in many civil and human rights movements which have helped to make opportunities available to individuals with disabilities and their families.

While the organization has undergone a few name changes throughout its history, it is now known as The Arc of Chester County serving over 3,000 individuals and families annually from Chester County and the surrounding areas.

The Arc of Chester County is a leading advocacy organization and provider of a lifetime of programs and services for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Every year, the month of March is designated as National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.

“The Arc is committed to advocating with and for individuals with disabilities and their families all year long. But during the month of March, we take extra steps to raise the public’s awareness about the needs, rights, and abilities of this marginalized and vulnerable population. We want to honor individuals with disabilities and their families and recognize the many contributions they make to our workforce, community, and society,” shared Arc CEO, Jeanne Meikrantz.

During the month, The Arc of Chester County is holding several virtual and in-person events to raise awareness and continue to support individuals with disabilities and their families.

A free, weekly Chat n Chew Speakers Series sponsored by The Arc’s Advocacy Program offering valuable training and informational sessions is being hosted. You can find out about upcoming Chat n’ Chew programs here.

In addition, two fun recreational events, a Super-Hero-themed movie day and the St. Patrick’s Day Dance, were hosted in March by The Arc’s Family Support Services program.

During March, The Arc will also kick off registrations for its 20th Annual Bubble Walk & Fun Day which is The Arc’s largest and most successful annual event.

The 2023 Bubble Walk & Fun Day will attract over 350 participants and be held in West Goshen Community Park at 11 AM on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

Participating in this event is the perfect way to support the important work being done with and for individuals with disabilities and their families in Chester County.

Over 350 individuals and families will come together ensuring that individuals with disabilities get the care and programming they need to live with respect, dignity, and a life of inclusion.
