Last month, Amy Bielicki joined the YMCA of Greater Brandywine as the Chief Development Officer. With 20 years of Development leadership experience at local and national health-related non-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Bielicki brings a passion for community engagement and healthy living to the YMCA. 

Expanding Health and Wellness

In her role as Chief Development Officer, Bielicki leads the Mission Advancement team, which is responsible for the YMCA annual campaign, grants, major gifts, planned giving, endowments and capital campaigns – and other priorities that enable the YMCA mission.

Bielicki has a combined 15 years of Development experience at prominent healthcare systems, most recently serving as the Director of Principal Gifts and Planned Giving at ChristianaCare in Delaware for the past 7 years. She is very familiar with the medical side of health and wellness – and understands that health extends beyond medicine.

“Traditional medicine and healthcare are important aspects of health and wellness – but they are not the only components,” explains Bielicki.

“There are enormous health benefits that come from regular exercise, balanced nutrition, increased mindfulness and healthy social relationships.”

Pillars of the Y Mission

To support health and wellness for all, the YMCA focuses on three pillars – Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility. The pillars of the Y mission align with Bielicki’s core values.

“The YMCA’s 360-degree approach to wellness appeals to me. The Y is a not just a gym – it is a community hub that enables people of all ages and abilities to reach their full potential with dignity,” comments Bielicki.  

Community Engagement

Helping others in the community reach their full potential is a value that was taught to Bielicki at an early age by her father who frequently gave his time to the community, assisting the homeless and others who needed a helping hand. Bielicki stays active in her community as a member of the Wilmington Tax Group and as past President of the Rotary Club of Wilmington – in addition to her work at the Y.

“Community engagement is important to me, and I’m excited for this opportunity to make a difference here in Chester County,” comments Bielicki. “I look forward to partnering with staff and donors to increase funding for key programs like our Financial Assistance Program, the 7^th Grade Initiative and more. We’re on a mission to increase health and wellness across the county.”
