See How Much Childcare Costs in Chester County

Childcare in Chester County is among the most expensive in Pennsylvania, according to the National Database of Childcare Prices created by the Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau. This database is the most comprehensive federal source of childcare prices at the county level. 

Center-based childcare for an infant in Chester County cost an estimated $17,120 in 2022. That is a 13.1 percent share of the county’s median family income of $117,559. It is also an increase from $15,371 in 2018. Home-based childcare for an infant is an estimated $11,583, or 8.8 percent of the median family income. 

For toddlers, the median yearly price for center-based childcare costs was an estimated $15,318 last year, or 11.7 percent of the median family income. The price in 2018 was $13,754. Home-based childcare cost was $11,583, or 8.8 percent. 

Meanwhile, the median yearly price for center-based childcare costs for preschoolers was $14,044 in 2022 (as compared to $12,610 in 2018), or 10.7 percent of the median family income, and home-based childcare cost was $11,583, or 8.8 percent. 

Finally, center-based childcare for school-age children was an estimated $13,900 ($12,480 in 2018), or 10.6 percent of the median family income. Home-based childcare was the same as for other age groups.
