Chadds Ford resident Beth Buccini is filling a gap that department and mono-designer stores can’t, writes Christina Binkley for Vogue.

“I open where I feel there’s a void,” she said about her small independent chain Kirna Zabête.

The multi-brand boutique has a location in Bryn Mawr.

Retailers struggle with excessive inventory and competition. Buccini’s business model has been proving a success. In 2022 the company’s revenues spiked 13 percent. She sees the importance of customer service.

Customers told Vogue that they appreciated the personal touch of these 700-square-foot stores. Another talked about how the boutique supported a fundraiser for her child’s school. While Buccini runs her boutique empire from her Chadds Ford home, she originally hails from Virginia.

“Our company culture is ‘nice,’” said Buccini. She wants the store to cater to everyone. The women’s ready-to-wear collection accounted for 72 percent of sales.
