See Which Supermarkets are the Most Popular for Chester County Shoppers
When heading out to refill their pantries or grab what’s required for the day’s meals, grocery shoppers in Chester County are most likely to load their carts at these supermarkets, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Giant is the top choice in Chester County, as well in the entire eight-county Philadelphia area, where it holds 30 percent of the grocery store market share.
The supermarket chain has managed to take an additional 0.65 percent of the market compared to the prior year, which equated to around $69.6 million in sales. The company is currently furthering its expansion in the region.
ShopRite is the second most popular supermarket chain in the region and Chester County with 26.6 percent share, while Acme came in third with 18.62 percent of the market.
However, when taking into account stores that do not focus only on groceries, Chester County shoppers have pushed a familiar local name in the top three. The second top-selling store for grocery shoppers in the county is Wawa.
