Austin Golya and Allison Kappler had their first date in 2012 at a themed party. Almost a decade later, they said “I do” at another themed party — their wedding, writes Kristen Schott for Philadelphia Magazine.

The newlyweds had their big day follow the theme of “Nancy Meyers Wedding Meets Christmas.” Meyers, a Philadelphia-born filmmaker, is known for her films The Parent Trap, Father of the Bride, and What Women Want.

The wedding took place last December at Terrain Gardens in Devon. The venue was decked out with garlands, Christmas trees, and twinkling lights. Meanwhile, Allison’s bouquet featured winter white flowers, seasonal berries, and greenery.

While the wedding was modeled beautifully after a Christmas rom-com, it also incorporated family. Allison wore a veil made for her aunt by her grandmother, which had also been worn by her mother. The couple’s cake-cutting knife was the same that Allison’s parents used in their wedding. One of the signature cocktails, called Tom’s Old-Fashioned, was named after her father.
