Tony Frick, CEO of Wayne-based Husk, and his wife, Alissa, have started manufacturing and are ready to fulfill their first orders for Blok, their smart cutting board brand, a little over a year after closing the first funding round, writes Lisa Dukart for Philadelphia Business Journal

Blok is also readying to launch an additional $1.5 million fundraiser.

The husband-wife duo created the concept during the early days of the pandemic. They wanted to share their cooking experiences with family and friends, but became frustrated by the complicated process of coordinating with each other and moving around devices.

They wanted to come up with a streamlined and synchronous process they could wrap up in a reasonable amount of time, so they created Blok. The smart cutting board which allows groups to cook together in real time consists of a removable wood cutting board and a docking station with a screen, camera, speakers, and microphone.

After rigorous testing, the pair launched manufacturing in October. They have a goal of delivering their first 100 units in the first six months, which translates to around $30,000 worth of products sold.
