The Flats at Kennett is opening the season for charitable giving with a food drive to help support families that are struggling amid raging inflation, writes Jen Samuel for The Daily Local News

For the second consecutive year, the donation will be made to Kennett Area Community Service for its local food pantry.

“Our goal is to collect more than a van full of items most in need for the KACS food pantry,” said Kathryn Sylvia, The Flats at Kennett community manager. “The Flats will be matching a certain percentage of the donations.”

This week, residents will receive a brown tote bag on their door with a list of items that are needed at the food pantry. Then on Nov. 21, The Flats’ staff will be collecting these bags outside of each door.

“Your continued support of our organization is essential to the ongoing success of KACS, especially in this time of financial hardship for many in the community,” said Effie Barnes, a Kennett Township resident. “Any and all donations are appreciated.”
