West Chester Man Creates App to Map Out Halloween Attractions Around America

By

Michael Kane, a West Chester software engineer has created FrightMaps, an app that states everything Halloween-related from haunted attractions around America to local spooky decorations in the area, writes Alicia Vitarelli for 6ABC.

In 2020, Kane created a similar concept called the ChristmasPrism app, which helps users find the best holiday lights and displays.

With FrightMaps, he wants to help everyone find something to enjoy for the fall season. His goal is for business, homeowners, event coordinators, and beyond to upload their houses so trick-or-treaters can see everything from their 12-foot skeletons and blow-up displays to other Halloween decorations.

“We have a really great surprise that really nobody will know about until Halloween,” said Kane. “Every user that signs up basically ticks whether they’re giving out candy or not. On October 31, that map is going to go live and you can see all of the icons of ‘candy corn houses’ all over your neighborhood. It’s going to be a really awesome experience.”

It is free to download and upload your display, and all entries are vetted beforehand.
