A bicycle decorated with purple blooms and ribbons arrived in Phoenixville last week to share a simple message: love does not harm, writes Holly Herman for the Phoenixville Patch

Pedals with Petals arrived during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to support domestic violence survivors.

“Purple ribbons show support and are a symbol of hope for survivors,” said Dolly Wideman-Scott, Domestic Violence Center of Chester County CEO. “Our center is here to reduce, remedy, and prevent this crime in our county.”

Pedals with Petals travels to different sites in Chester County with a message of love and care for the community, explained Carol Metzker, creator of the flower bike that switches flowers and colors to match a cause.

“This month, the flower bicycle lets people know what love is not: violent, psychologically abusive, isolating, possessive, or demeaning,” said Metzker.
