Caln Township has joined forces with the Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards of Chester & Delaware Counties to replace mowed turf in an inaccessible open space with a new, environmentally-friendly meadow park, according to a staff report from The Daily Local News

The new park will feature a native meadow along with public engagement. Replacing the short-rooted turf grass with native plants that have longer root systems will also improve stormwater infiltration and reduce stormwater runoff.

As part of the project, Caln Township will create adjoining parking spaces along with an entryway to the new park. Meanwhile, Master Watershed Stewards will create an educational sign to educate visitors about meadows. The sign will include a drawing bench with materials.
