Tammy and Dan Mayer, of West Chester, are on a mission to find a living kidney donor to save the life of their 22-year-old son, Oliver, writes Stephanie Stahl for CBS Philadelphia

They have taken their search to the streets, where Tammy has been brandishing a sign that reads “My son needs a kidney.”

“We are doing everything we can to help our son find a living kidney donor,” she said.

Usually, living organ donors are family members, but in Oliver’s case, none of them were a match.

The community has now rallied around the family in hopes of helping find a donor, including Christine Marvel, who donated a kidney to her father.

“It’s so easy,” she said. “I still live my normal life.”
