Memorials Will Honor Life of Staunch Race Director of Malvern’s Radnor Hunt
Family and friends of West Chester’s C. Wayne “Skip” Achuff, race director of Radnor Hunt Races in Malvern, will be able to celebrate his life in a pair of memorial event, writes Tod Marks for the Paulick Report.
Achuff died on Aug. 28 at his West Chester home after a long fight against cancer.
He was a lifelong horseman and made an imprint on the sport during his days as a jockey and racecaller for Equibase. Later, he joined Radnor Hunt Races as a race director.
“Working with Skip was great; he loved racing and helped make the Radnor Hunt Races one of the top three meets on the circuit,” said Carol Griffin, former Radnor Hunt Races coordinator.
He also owned, operated, and developed Brass Ladle Products. He was a perfectionist in all his endeavors despite his casual demeanor, said his family.
The first memorial honoring Achuff will take place on Oct. 9 at Thornbury Farm CSA in West Chester, while the second will be held at the National Steeplechase Museum in Camden on Nov. 20.
