Dedicated to Enhancing Education in the Communities It Serves, S&T Bank Donates $6,000 to Local School
S&T Bank is a paradigm of corporate responsibility, as its investments support affordable housing, economic development, the revitalization of underserved areas, the fight against food insecurity, and educational programs.
Last year, S&T Bank donated $346,000 to schools through the EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) program. And recently, it presented a $6,000 check to Roxborough Christian School, a private school that educates children (ages three through sixth grade) from diverse backgrounds and education and income levels.
In Pennsylvania, the EITC program allows eligible businesses to receive tax credits in exchange for contributions to a scholarship organization, an educational improvement organization, and/or a pre-kindergarten scholarship organization.
S&T’s donation to Roxborough Christian marks the bank’s first to a school in southeastern Pennsylvania, as it recently entered the market through its acquisition of DNB First.
“At S&T, we want local organizations to thrive within the community, especially where we have a branch presence,” said Justin Gildea, Vice President of Commercial Banking at S&T. “Roxborough Christian School is down the block from one of our branches, so we knew we made the right choice.”
Roxborough Christian is a progressive, faith-based school that aims to provide a nurturing environment through high standards of education. The donation was presented to George McClennen, president of the school’s board of directors, as well as several students who were attending summer camp.
“Supporting local is what it is all about,” said Gildea. “That’s the goal we set out to achieve.”
“I am immensely proud of our people, our culture, and both the enduring long-term and new business relationships that we continue to build and support,” said S&T Bank CEO Chris McComish. “And by no means are we finished — corporate responsibility is an ongoing endeavor, one that must adapt to new conditions, grow into new areas, and be ever-vigilant to the demands of a complex society.”
