ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester has announced the winner of its Ninth Annual Chef’s Best culinary competition, featuring the top restaurants in the West Chester area.

Rams Head Bar & Grill, located on Market Street, received the most votes from diners for its lamb lollies with homemade chimichurri and balsamic reduction. The event raised $10,000 to enable ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester to support the unemployed and underemployed in the community.

“It’s the second time Rams Head has won,” said ACT in Faith Board President Denise Antonelli. “We’re happy to present them with another ‘Best of Chef’s Best’ award.”

Rams Head Chef James Jones said, “We came in ready to defend our title, and we’re thrilled to continue our winning streak. We’re ready to return next year with our elevated comfort food and high-quality ingredients.”

Chef’s Best, the signature fundraiser of ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester, featured a twist this year to accommodate COVID restrictions. What was a one-night, in-person event morphed into a six-week restaurant tour (from April 11 to May 26) of Rams Head, Opa Tavern, Split Rail Tavern, and Slow Hand. All four participating restaurants offered a free signature appetizer to patrons taking part in Chef’s Best. A $50 ticket entitled diners to one coupon for each of the four restaurants on the tour and the opportunity to vote for the “Best of Chef’s Best.”

“We’re hoping that Chef’s Best will be back in person next year. We’re already hearing from restaurants who would like to compete for a great cause,” said Antonelli.
